Corrected Age Three Months (Post-Term)

If Sean were born on his EDD (estimated due date) of October 3rd, he would be 3 months old today.

This is what we can expect at Three Months Corrected:

General Behavior:  At this age, infants are alert more often.  They respond more to people during this time.  They may smile in response to people.

Hearing:  Infants now coo and chuckle when talked to.

Vision:  Infants visually attend promptly to toys as well as to people.  Infants are better able to follow objects from side to side than they were before.  They begin to glance at a rattle held in their hands.  They also begin to watch the movement of their own hands.  They now visually tell the difference between whites, yellows, and greens.  Their ability to look downward while sitting is beginning to develop.

Taste:  Infants will chew on their fingers and toys.  They learn much about toys by exploring them with their mouths.

Feeding:  Infants may me mature enough to sleep through the night without needing to be fed.

Movement and Positioning:  Head control continues to improve.  When infants are placed in supported sitting positions, their heads are steadier.  Infants begin to hold their heads in the middle of their bodies instead of to the side.  When lying on their stomachs, infants start to use their arms for support.  When held while standing, infants may put weight on their feet.
